Here are the Rules/Regulations for the League.
1. Overview
1.1 Season
The Vermont Chess League will include six or more teams. The teams will compete in a 12 match season that begins in September and ends in April.
1.2 Teams
Teams will consist of four players and one alternate. The team average rating must bu under 1700 USCF or Burlington Chess Club. Whichever is highest. Note: If not from th Burlington Chess Club, use USCF raintgs only.
1.3 Matches
In order to faciitate participation the matched will be scheduled bi-weekly with flex match scheduling. Players will be assigned boards by their team captain. After match pairing are determined; the paired players will then arrange a time anda place to play their game.
1.4 Match Games
USCF League games will be played according to USCF rules with Game 90 minutes time controls. As much as is possible, schedule and color will be determined by standard USCF or US Chess League practices.
1.5 Team Captains
Team Captains will be approved by the VCL committee and will be essential to the success of the league. Captains will be invited to participate on the VCL Committee.
Team Captains will recruit, establesh and submit all necessary information. They will also be responsible to disseminate all vital information to their teams encouraging full participation in bi-weekly matches. This includes submitting roster information before the match begins and also reporting the time and place of the match to the opposing captain.
Team Captains will submit roster and name for their team to the league for apporval.
1.6 USCF Membership and Rating
All games played will be rated by the USCF and therefore current membership is necessary for participation.
1.7 Disputes Committee
This league offers great flexibility and as a result may encounter some unique chess expereinces. For this reason a Disputes Committee of three will be established to mediate all disputes that may arise. The members of this committee will not be a part of the VCL Committee.
1.8 Cost
The team fee will be $75.00 per team. These monies will be used to run the league, give cash prizes, purchase awards and provide playing space for the two matches at the mid-point and end of the season. The league is not a money making endeavour and its officers will not recieve any compensation.
1.9 VCL Committee
The following list will be gecognized as the VCL Committee. The list is not final and can be adapted to service the league.
Director, Assistant, Committee Members(2-4 Team Captains), Treasurer,Secratary.
Season Procedures
When playing a match, to win the match you have to score 2.5/4. To get the 1 in the "win" column and etc. A 2-2 draw will be .5 and so on
At the end of the season, the team with the best percentage, will win the league. If there is a tie the teams will play a tiebreak match. If undecided after the match is complete, then they will play a Game 5 minutes with between 2 players of the teams.
Note: The blitz rule can be changed is is not final.
